10 years ago — 1998

The City Council is near an agreement with Plan C developers after both sides settled on development-impact fees ranging from $1,670 to $2,908 per residential unit. Plan C includes 15 subdivisions that could generate up to 6,149 new homes.

The Tracy Farmers Market is expanding to include Saturdays as well as Wednesdays.
John and Becky Day are opening All-Day Bar-B-Que on East 10th Street.

Tracy’s Veterans of Foreign Wars post is opening its new building on Grant Line Road.
The Tracy High boys swim team has captured the Valley Oak League title after winning the final relay race.

 
25 years ago — 1983

The Tracy Sports Hall of Fame inducted new members at the annual dinner at the Elks Lodge. Inducted were hurdler Tom Bonin, women’s coach Marge Larsen, three-sport standout Dennis “Buck” Del Nero; baseball team sponsor Ben Nielsen, baseball-softball standout Jim Blaney (posthumously) and the baseball dynasty Ortega-Gutierrez family.

Bogetti Enterprises is starting construction on the Tracy Orchard Restaurant near the interchange of Grant Line Road and Interstate 205.

A knot of lawsuits over deficiencies in Tracy’s new sewage-treatment plant has been settled, leaving the city of Tracy with $1 million and a plant-repair project.


50 years ago — 1958

A preliminary draft of Tracy’s first general plan envisions a population growing to 29,000 by 1980.

The plan, developed by San Francisco planning consultant Lawrence Livingston Jr., will go to the planning commission for review and public hearings.

Tracy Boys Scouts have had their annual Scout Exposition at the Tracy Ball Park. There are 404 boys involved in 15 Scout and Cub units in Tracy.


75 years ago — 1933

The West Park School orchestra, under the direction of Ernest G. Dobney, has appeared on KLX radio in Oakland.
