Katie Gordon and John-Michael Melville will marry in August 2008 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Tracy.

Katie, a 2006 West High School graduate, completed a year at California State University, Chico, followed by a year at California State University, Stanislaus. She will attend University of Washington in the fall. Her parents are Dave and Julie Gordon of Tracy. Her grandparents are Bud and Nita Hayes of West Sacramento, Alice Gordon of Woodland and the late Verl Gordon. Her brother is Matt Gordon.

John-Michael Melville, also a 2006 West High graduate, serves in the U.S. Army with a special-operations unit. He has completed one tour in Iraq.

His parents are Michael and Sandy Melville of Tracy. His grandparents are John and Dorothy Melville of San Leandro and Greg (Gody) and Patricia Batausa of Hayward. His sister is Taylor Melville.

John-Michael proposed to Katie in Seattle on a pier at night overlooking the ocean and city lights.

The couple announced their engagement to family members Easter weekend.

The couple plans to return to the Tracy area, where Katie will pursue a career in education and John-Michael plans to enter law enforcement.
