Jeannie Duckworth, owner of grooming shop Decadent Pets, has a goal to help out as many local animals as she possibly can. She and a team of three others, Romina Mecuri, Carol Bellicitti and Kim Sartor, recently started an animal rescue group called Lucky Paws Foundation out of Decadent Pets, 2302 East St.

The rescue will show dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and just about any other type of pet from Tracy Animal Shelter between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.

Lucky Paws Foundation will charge what Tracy Animal Shelter charges for pets: between $125 and $175 to adopt a dog and between $55 and $90 for cats. The rescue will give 50 to 75 percent of the proceeds back to Tracy Animal Shelter.

VCA Old River Animal Hospital will give a free exam to each pet, and animal behavioralist Robert Endo will give a free consultation with the pet and its new owner.

“We’re trying to go the extra mile,” Duckworth said.
